Summary
This is a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the BJA FY 2026 Investigating and Prosecuting Sexual Assaults in Confinement Facilities Program. This opportunity supports state, local, and tribal efforts to enhance their capacity to investigate and prosecute incidents of sexual assault in confinement facilities. State agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutorial agencies may utilize this funding for investigative and prosecutorial activities to decrease incidents of sexual assault in confinement facilities and increase the rate of successful prosecutions in such cases.
Eligibility
For the purposes of this NOFO, “state and local prosecuting agencies” include state, county, and municipal government offices that are authorized to prosecute criminal offenses on behalf of the government; For the purposes of this NOFO, “other units of local government” include towns, boroughs, parishes, villages, or other general purpose political subdivisions of a state; For the purposes of this NOFO, “publicly funded law enforcement agencies” are law enforcement agencies funded by States, federally recognized Tribes, or units of local government. | applicant types: Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); County governments; Others (see text field entitled "Additional Information on Eligibility" for clarification); City or township governments; Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized); State governments
